Things to do in Ramsgate
Many of our clients travel from further afield, so here's a little guide to things you can do when you visit.
Recommended Coffee shops
- Dawnies- very close to the salon, about a 30 second walk, is Dawnies. An independently run coffee shop at the heart of the Ramsgate community, with board games available, local artist showcases and books for purchase, supporting local charities.
- Rileys- in the centre of town, Rileys is an independent coffee shop that has the most amazing cake available by the slice. They also do panini's, toasties, JPs and salads of you're hungry.
The biggest Wetherspoons in Europe
You may not be a fan of "spoons" but this particular venue is exquisite, repurposing the old casino, The Royal Pavillion is enormous, with a grand central staircase and wraparound verandah. Not to be missed!
Fish and chips
My personal favourite chip shop is "Peters" near the main beach, so if you fancy some traditional fish n chips, pop to Peters!
Our Royal Harbour
Our beautiful marina is a gorgeous place to walk, with various eateries and quirky bars inside the "arches". If the bridge is down you can walk all the way round.
Viking trail clifftop walk
If you're feeling adventurous, you can take the Viking trail to Broadstairs (and beyond) and enjoy our stunning coastal scenery
Ramsgate main sands
Enjoy a few hours on our golden sandy beach, explore the cliffs, rock pools and watch the various sea birds. Maybe grab an ice cream or a hot chocolate from one of the local café's!
Ramsgate Tunnels
Take a tour deep underneath the cliffs and learn what it was like during the war for families sheltering during air raids. These tunnels are incredibly well preserved and expert guides will talk you through the journey. Booking advised.
Retail therapy!
There are some wonderful independent shops (and charity shops) in Ramsgate main town and just up the road is Westwood Cross shopping centre where you will find some of the larger chain stores like River Island, Next, New look, M&S and more.

There are many air BnB options available as well as a Travel Lodge overlooking the harbour.
Pubs
We still have a lot of pubs and bars in Ramsgate (and Thanet). If you like live music many of them still have bands on Friday and Saturday nights too.
